Reactions of Limestone (The Limestone Cycle)

Limestone or calcium carbonate undergoes many different reactions.  For Edexcel GCSE you will need to know the following reactions:

• What happens when limestone and other carbonates are heated (thermal decomposition).  If you are not sure what thermal decomposition is then click here.
• What happens when water is added to calcium oxide.
• What happens when carbon dioxide is added to limewater.
